After he died some people in his home town wanted to remember him, so they put up a big statue of him on a horse.
There was a school near the statue, and some of the boys passed it every day on their way to school and again on their way home. After a few months some of them began to say , 'good morning, pershing' , whenever they passed the statue, and soon all the boys at the school were doing this.
One Saturday one of the smallest of these boys was walking to the shops with his mother when he passed the statue. He said,' good morning, pershing' to it , but then he stopped and said to his mother, ' I like pershing very much' , ma, but who is that funny man on his back? !!!!!

John lived with his mother in a rather big house, and when she died, the house became too big for him so he bought a smaller one in the next street. There was a very nice old clock in his first house, and when the men came to take his furniture to the new house, john thought, I'm not going to let them carry my beautiful old clock in their truck. Perhaps they'll break it, and then mending it will be very expensive. So he picked it up and began to carry it down the road in his arms.
It was heavy, so he stopped two or three times to have a rest. Then suddenly a small boy came along the road. He stopped and looked at john for a few seconds. Then he said to john, you are a stupid man, aren't you? Why don't you buy a watch like every body else?

کاربرد
زمان حال ساده يکي از متداولترين زمانها در زبان انگليسي ميباشد که براي مقاصد زير مورد استفاده قرار ميگيرد:
1- براي بيان عملي که هميشه تکرار ميشود، مانند يک عادت يا رسم:

· I go to school by bus. · We get up at 7 AM. · 'Does he smoke?' 'No, he doesn't.' |
2- براي بیان حقیقتی که همیشه یا معمولاً درست است:
The earth orbits the sun.
I come from
Some animals migrate in winter. (بعضي از حيوانات در زمستان مهاجرت ميکنند.)
3- براي بيان حقيقتي که براي مدتي (طولاني) دوام داشته باشد:
I work in a shop.
She lives in a small cottage.
زمان حال ساده اغلب با قيدهاي تکرار مورد استفاده قرار ميگيرند. مهمترين قيدهاي تکرار (frequency adverbs) عبارتند از:
never rarely sometimes often usually always
I usually play football with my friends.
I never go shopping.
Sometimes she plays piano for us
ساختار زمان حال ساده چگونه است.
مصدر بدون to + فاعل He comes
(در سوم شخص مفرد فعل باید s بگیرد)
منظور از فاعل همه ضمایر فاعلی و یا هر اسم دیگری است.
منظور از سوم شخص مفرد he/ she/ it و یا هر اسمی است که بتوانیم به جای آن یکی از این ضمایر را بگذاریم. بنابر این Ali/ My mother/ Ali’s friend سوم شخص مفرد هستند. اما Ali and Reza/ My sisters/ Ali’s friends سوم شخص مفرد نیستند.
حال به صرف مصدر to play در زمان حال ساده دقت کنید.

They play
هر مصدر دیگری را هم که به جای play بگذاریم باز هم به همین صورت صرف می کنیم. پس فقط باید به سوم شخص مفرد دقت کنیم تا s یا es را فراموش نکنیم.
حال به صرف مصدر to teach دقت می کنیم:
I teach
You teach
He/ She/ It teaches
We teach
You teach
They teach
نکاتي در مورد املاء افعال
1- افعالي که به x, ch, sh, ss و o ختم ميشوند، به جاي es ، s ميگيرند:
kisses, washes, watches, does, boxes
2.افعالي که به y ختم ميشوند و قبل از آن حرف بيصدايي بيايد، y به ies تبديل ميشود:
try, tries hurry, hurries fly, flies
ولي آن دسته از افعالي که به y ختم ميشوند و قبل از آن يک حرف صدادار وجود دارد، تنها يک s ميگيرند:
plays, buys, enjoys

English proverbs (animals and insects).

فلفل نبين چه ريزه بشكن ببين چه تيزه .
9. Let sleeping dogs lie.
بگذار سگ خفته در خواب بماند(پا رو دم شير نگذار).
10. A crow is never whiter for ever washing.
يك كلاغ با شستن سفيد نميشود.(مشك آن است كه خود ببويد نه آنكه عطار بگويد.).
